The Avon Singers are a 35 strong chamber choir who perform in the Worcestershire area. Following several successful concerts at St. Michael and All Angels’ Church in Broadway, they loved it so much that they have made it their home and now rehearse there every Monday evening.

Their next concert at St. Michaels’ will be on Friday 29th May 2020. They will be performing a range of beautiful choral works on a theme of Sunrise to Sunset. The concert has been designed to reflect the changing mood of Sunrise and Sunset whilst maximising the wonderful acoustic and spiritual ambiance that the Church provides. The programme centres around the Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo, which leads the audience through a myriad of emotions. The concert will also feature an impressive array of works by living composers, including Craig Hella Johnson, Howard Goodall, Cynthia Gray, John Rutter and Eric Whitacre. Performing music by living composers is a great passion of Musical Director, Claire Hawkes, both for the satisfaction they bring to an audience and the feeling of relevance from music written in our time. Being a small chamber choir, the strength of the Avon Singers is in the sensitive performance of music which has been written to express a range of tonal colours, emotions and poetry.

The Avon Singers will be joined by Selina Bella Stringsfounded and led by Shulah Oliver.  This is a group of professional musicians who are all graduates from leading Music Conservatoires & Universities. The group has a wealth of experience performing for events from National Awards Ceremonies, Book Launches and Reunions to playing for The Queen & Duke of Edinburgh, and many other types of events including concerts, weddings and corporate functions.
